The veil between URL and IRL thins once more for ADMIN REVEAL. Darling internet pest and real life gayguy Miss Lady Salad welcomes f-slurs far and wide to journey through their valley of memes, celebrating three years of a meme-a-day (or 3) with a little talking, a little sharing, a little durational performance, 15mg of generic Lexapro, and a dream.

FREE DURATIONAL PERFORMANCE January 27, 12:30-2pm – Miss Lady Salad will sit IRL working on their many screens. Visitors are invited to use the Miss Lady Salad selfie stick to take a photo with the artist against their meme backdrop, but do not expect a response… the internet is calling them.

Memestress and hyper-niche internet microcelebrity Miss Lady Salad (Shawn Escarciga) presents ADMIN REVEAL, a celebration of internet culture and the artists and thinkers who keep it alive. Miss Lady Salad sits down with a special group of meme makers, content creators, and digital darlings to chat about the philosophy and inspiration behind their online personas, while giving space to share their live performance and artistic practices. ADMIN REVEAL is a hybrid evening of IRL conversation and performance with some of the internet’s trashiest, classiest, and most inspired URL accounts.

ADMIN REVEAL – two casual evenings with a rotating cast of internet and IRL artists, musicians, comedians and writers, January 27th and 28th at The Brick.

Whatever You Want is an exploration of authority and how it manifests in the body when it is willingly stripped from an individual.

Through a series of pre-generated commands along with those elicited by a live and digital audience, Escarciga will experiment with modes of giving and taking power as the performance plays out in real time, manipulating his body in response to lived circumstances. Informed by a background in Butoh and survival mechanisms as a queer person living with mental illness, Whatever You Want is a glimpse into the daily life of those living on the fringe.

Second iteration of Safety Plans project in collaboration with Human Trash Dump (Elizabeth Lamb and David Ian Bellows/Griess). 

Safety Plans is a visual catalogue of images and videos abstracted from Escarciga’s personal experiences with mental health and survival as a queer person. Drawing from a background in movement and performance art, Safety Plans is a voyeuristic glimpse into the inner workings and realities of living with mental illness, seeking intimacy, and the dichotomies of personal and private space. This is the second iteration of a larger project which began in Winter 2017 at the Satellite Art Show in Miami, Florida.

Safety Plans, 2017: An exploration of existence on the fringe as a queer, poor artist living with mental illness. A performance that draws from Escarciga’s background in Butoh, text derived from hospital journal entries, and, like, a really good sense of humor to critique mental healthcare in the U.S. and allow for a glimpse into an often stigmatized reality.
